Wow, Maxx- It's been awhile since I've been on here to see what my leather friends r doing- and this is just incredible- whatever creature you're making right now is gonna be freaking rad (: lol Those legs look so real they kinda creep me out- it's fantastic !
Hey Jan! So good to hear from you! Glad you're back on DA. This is my drow OC. They worship a spider goddess, hence the legs. Glad you like him. I've made a corset for my wife to match but haven't posted it yet. I wanted to get more of her drow ensemble done first. Now I'm taking a break from THAT to work on my rumplestiltskin project. I've grown my hair out just to do him. Its crazy over here.
Man, thanks a lot!I have the greaves an cuisses done but haven't posted. I stopped production on mine to work on Diana's Drow corset. I plan to have more spidery thingys all over both of our drow sets eventually.
Thanks a lot! This is all leather. Its funny, the spider legs were originally going to be the shoulder pieces but they kept flipping around the back and liked how it looked better that way so I changed the design.
I have seen some folks that are able to feather the dye with a cloth and light strokes. It takes some practice. Some can do it with a brush as well. The dye I use is spirit based leather dye and soaks into the leather. Then I apply a coate of super sheen as a sealer. Its pretty durable. If you scratch deep enough the the flesh color of the leather will eventually show through but that would be extreme. Paints do well on leather too but don't penetrate as deep. If I were to make armor for combat such as sca, I would use dark solid colors much like you see on shoes.
Ah, so you know a bit about drow society. My character is Krill daer Barriath of house Barriath which means spawn of the dragon. He is the worst kind of drow, a true trickster. He has gained considerable power through his conniving, for a male that is. He is adept with weapons and magic but it is his sharp tongue that is his greatest asset. The only one that can keep him in check is Matron Xull'ithra Barriath. LOL, probably too much information.
Thats means a lot! I plan to add more to this harness later. Spiders on the pauldrons maybe. I pulled off of this project to work on my wife's drow matron corset. I'm in the design phase which drives me crazy. lol
I honestly think that Azmal is THE reference for a lot of leatherworker like us, more I speak with people, more I hear the same thing about him
But yep, even if I love his work, I have to admit that I've start leatherwork after I find your Dragon armors here on DA. Being able to do this such awesome, amazing work without all the tools and material from a professionnal store made me believe that's indeed possible, even if I don't have tools or stuff like that I've earned confidence and try, and I am here now on DA with some of the most talented people in leathercraft ....... *.* Happy me
So thanks to you for sharing all of your amazing works
